Officers and staff of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) have decided to contribute one day’s salary to PM CARES Fund.

The decision has been taken in order to help the Centre contain coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) fund is a public charitable trust and it has been set up to provide emergency relief.

ITAT president PP Bhatt said, “The decision has been made in consultation with all the vice presidents of ITAT.”

The ITAT further urged all of its other stakeholders to come forward and contribute generously to the PM CARES fund.

“These donations have been exempted from income tax under Section 80 (G) of the Income-tax Act, 1961,” Bhatt clarified.
