Arunachal Pradesh legislator Gokar Basar on Sunday contributed a sum of Rs 20 lakh to the state’s chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF) in his bid to join the fight against COVID-19.
Basar has also donated an additional sum Rs 10 lakh to the Leppa Rada district administration for sanitization purposes and purchase of personal protection equipment.
He had earlier handed over Rs 50,000 to the administration.
Going a step further, Basar has also announced to waive off one month’s rental fees of his tenants and those of the commercial buildings and establishments owned by him and are presently closed due to the nationwide lockdown.

Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra has also donated his salary for the month of March towards the CMRF.
Joining the all out effort of the State Government in the fight against COVID-19, the Governor has also appealed the people to stay at their homes and cooperate with the civil administration in the health precautionary ‘lockdown’.
He emphasized on social distancing and maintaining a meter long physical distance in case one has to go out for emergencies to hospitals.
Meanwhile, Eastern Army Commander Lt General Anil Chauhan has volunteered the army’s help to the governor for the people of Arunachal Pradesh in fighting Corona Virus in the state.
The Governor thanked Lt Chauhan and expressed confidence that with the joint effort of all, the pandemic of coronavirus will surely be defeated.
Industry and Textiles minister Tumke Bagra also on Sunday donated Rs two lakh as immediate relief for purchase of clinical masks, sanitizers, gloves etc to the West Siang district administration.
