Engineers of Mahindra Group are working on manufacturing prototypes of ventilators as India is fighting hard to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra had recently revealed that the company is working with an indigenous maker of ICU ventilators.
He also claimed that the team who is involved in making the prototypes of the ICU ventilators estimated that it will cost less than Rs 7500.
Anand Mahindra had earlier tweeted, “As @GoenkaPk tweeted, we are simultaneously working with an indigenous maker of ICU ventilators. These are sophisticated machines costing between 5 to 10 lakhs. This
the device is an interim lifesaver & the team estimates it will cost below Rs 7,500.”
The chairman on Thursday congratulated the team for making the prototypes within a period of 48
hours.
He tweeted,” So, so proud of our Kandivali&Igatpuri teams who confined themselves to the factories & without sleep produced this in 48 hrs. With humility, we will seek guidance from specialists on the usefulness of the device. Whatever the outcome, they have shown India fights back.”
In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, Anand Mahindra had earlier announced a series of measures that his company would be taking to help the healthcare professionals and organizations.
In a series of Tweets, Mahindra said that the Mahindra Group would be manufacturing ventilators and offers Mahindra resorts as a temporary healthcare home as the country battles the virus outbreak.
He also said the Mahindra Group was ready to assist the Indian government and the Army in erecting temporary healthcare facilities to tackle the ongoing outbreak.
