Sikkim Democratic Front party has launched an awareness campaign against COVID-19 with the distribution of awareness pamphlets, hand sanitizers and face masks.

The state-wide campaign was flagged off by SDF president and former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling here at SDF Bhawan on Monday morning.

He appealed leaders, workers and panchayats of the party to work together in creating mass awareness to save Sikkim from coronavirus.

It is informed that the party would be distributing one lakh each of hand sanitizers and face mask and awareness pamphlets to the people of Sikkim.

On the occasion, Chamling expressed that prevention was the best option to keep Sikkim away from COVID-19 by giving the right message and information to the people.

“Through this campaign, the party wants to give the right message on coronavirus and its prevention to the people of Sikkim,” he said.

“We would distribute awareness pamphlets in Nepali and English and hand sanitizers and face masks to the people across the state,” he added.

He expressed that the people of the state have to support to protect Sikkim from coronavirus.

He mentioned that the party would also help in screening through a thermal scanner and other medical equipment.

While mentioning that proper knowledge was the best for prevention, Chamling appealed the people to stay alert and aware of coronavirus for the prevention.

He mentioned that the party would reach out across the State with this awareness campaign.
