The deputy speaker of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and BPF candidate from Bhergaon BTC constituency, Nerswn Boro exuded confidence that Hagrama Mohillary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) will come to power again.
Boro said the BPF will come to power for the fourth consecutive term winning more than 32 council seats out of 40 in the forthcoming BTC polls.
Boro also lambasted the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) alleging that they have been misleading the common people of the Bodo belt and want to gain political mileage out of the third Bodo Accord.
He said the third Bodo Accord is just a truce promising developmental schemes in the region.
Talking to Northeast Now, Boro said, “Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) is synonymous with development, peace, and integrity and has been instrumental to the development of the road infrastructure, building university, colleges among others in the region.”
He said, “The development process in the region started ever since the inception of BTC in 2003.
He claimed in the signing of the Bodo Accord on January 27 BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary took a leading role in bringing all the factions of NDFB to the negotiation table.
“But after the signing of the Accord, the Bodo stakeholders ABSU and UPPL are attempting to gain cheap political mileage by misleading the common people against the ruling party,” he added.
He also reiterated that the Hagrama Mohillary-led BPF is committed to the cause of development in the region along with bringing integrity among the different communities.
Bor further said, “Like the implementation of all the clauses of the 2003 Bodo Accord by the BPF, we are determined to implement the clauses of the Bodo pact signed on January 27.
“It is not only the BPF, but even if any other party comes to power in the polls they are duty-bound to implement the pact in letter and spirit,” he further said.
Lambasting the BASU and the Pramod Boro-led UPPL, he alleged that they have been mongering misinformation among the common people and misled the Bodo society in lieu of being the signatories of the Bodo pact.
He lamented that the pact is yet to see the day of the light as the formal procedures of the notification among others are yet to be completed for its implementation.
Hitting out at Pramod Boro he said, “Pramod Boro gave away the Bodoland movement and signed the pact.”
“Pramod Boro earlier said he would work for the people and had no aspiration to be associated with active politics. But now his power-hungry and greedy nature are exposed as he is leading UPPL as its president and contesting polls,” said Boro.
