Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attended the open session of the 87th Annual Conference of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha at Pandit Rai Sahab Gopika Ballav Goswami Samanway Kshetra, Dadhora Ahom Pathar at Misamora in Dergaon on Friday.

Speaking at the open session, he said, “Srimanta Sankardev’s ideals have always inspired the Assamese society and it will continue to do so in the future as well. His ideals teach us discipline, honesty, sincerity and hardwork. Following his footsteps, the young generation of the state must strive to achieve excellence in all fields and make Assam as one of the best states in the country”.

Urging the youth to stay away from the lure of easy money, Chief Minister Sonowal stated that money earned through dishonest means cannot bring happiness in life and called upon the young members of the society to follow the shining example of Gurujona who untiringly and selflessly made immense contribution to all aspects of Assamese society.

“From Namghar to Bhaona and Sattriya to Mati Akhora, Gurujona left behind a rich legacy and the young generation of the state must devote to preserve and glorify them”, he added.

A strong, unified and peaceful Assam is the prime objective of the state Government, Sonowal urged the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha to dedicate itself in producing good citizens for the society for achieving all round development and free Assam from corruption.

The Chief Minister urged the people to follow Sankardev’s teachings of “Ek Briksha Daksha Putra Sama” for preserving the ecology and making Assam a pollution free state.
