Sarodee Borah, an upcoming singer from Assam has been nominated for the 12th Mirchi Music Awards, 2020.

She has been nominated in the category for ‘Best Upcoming Female Vocalist of the year’.

The nomination came for her song ‘Sapne Jo Bhi‘ in the movie ‘Zindagi Tumse‘.

She is the first female singer from Assam to be nominated for the prestigious Mirchi Awards.

Sarodee hails from Dibrugarh and she is the daughter of Pradip Borah and Runumi Borah.

Her father is a teacher at the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School.

Sarodee debuted at the national stage with her performance in MTV Coke Studio (Season II).

She has also lent her voice in playback in several Bollywood movies like Shandaar (2015), Yeh Ishq Sarfiraa (2015), Shoorveer (2016), apart from singing in many television serials.

Mirchi Music Awards are presented annually by Radio Mirchi to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Hindi language film music industry of India.

The awards, given in 17 different categories, were instituted to award the best of 2008.

In 2010, the southern edition of the awards – Mirchi Music Awards South was launched through which artists from the four South Indian film industries – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam – are being honoured.

In 2012, the Bengali edition of the awards – Mirchi Music Awards Bangla was launched.
