Nagaland defeated Meghalaya by 65 runs in their U-23 Col C K Nayudu Trophy match in Assam’s Golaghat on Saturday.

Nagaland’s victory rode on a tidy bowling performance.

Resuming on 140/5 and leading by 131 over Meghalaya in their second innings, Nagaland were ultimately dismissed for 206.

This had set Meghalaya a target of 198 to win but were bowled out for just 132.

Adarsh Joshi (4/43) scalped four wickets for Meghalaya while Kishan Lyngdoh took 1/7, according to reports.

While chasing the target, Meghalaya’s Lyngdoh hit six fours in his rapid innings of 25 off 15 deliveries.

Though he was the top scorer for Meghalaya, other batsmen could not build big enough partnerships to reach their target.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya’s U-23 Women’s One-Day Trophy match against Bihar was abandoned midway due to rain.

Bihar had put up 149/7 in a reduced 49 overs with four run outs and wickets for Riticia Nongbet (1/21), Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai (1/23) and Sandria Momin (1/33).

Meghalaya were on 28/2 when rain played spoilsport forcing abandonment of the match.

Each team received two points each.
