Lakhs of employees of several PSU banks have threatened to sit on another bank strike in March second week, which follows the two-day bank strike on January 31 and February 1.

Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) and the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) informed that a three-day nationwide bank strike will be observed from March 11 to 13.

The strike has been called after wage revision talks with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) failed.

The strike has been timed ahead of the second Saturday of March, when banks observe a holiday, this could affect work for five consecutive days including Sunday.

Even ATMs could be closed for five consecutive days during this period.

If the strike goes ahead as planned, then this would be the third bank strike of the year so far as banking services were also affected on January 8 during Bharat Bandh.

If their demands are not met then the bank unions will further call for an indefinite strike from April 1 this year.
