Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced the formation of a trust for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

While making a speech in the Lok Sabha, Modi said that the trust-Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra- will be formed according to the orders of the Supreme Court.

“I am happy to share with my fellow Indians that important decisions have been taken with regard to Ram Janmabhoomi. These are in line with the verdict of the Honourable Supreme Court of India,” Modi said.

“The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra will be formed. This is the trust that was to be formed in line with the verdict of the Honourable Supreme Court of India,” he added.

Modi also said that the government is working for the welfare of every citizen.

“We are all members of one family. This is the ethos of India. We want every Indian to be happy and healthy. Guided by ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ we are working for the welfare of every Indian,” Modi said.

“After the verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue came out, the people of India displayed remarkable faith in democratic processes and procedures. I salute the 130 crore people of India,” he added.

On November last year, the Supreme Court announced that the construction of Ram Mandir will have to be monitored by a trust.

While pronouncing the Ayodhya land dispute verdict on November 9, former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi said, “Centre will hand over the disputed site to the board of trustees and a suitable alternative plot of land measuring 5 acres at Ayodhya will be given to Sunni Waqf Board.”
