The deputy commissioner of Assam’s Sonitpur, Manvendra Pratap Singh, on Sunday flagged off a walkathon under ‘Saksham 2020’ to create awareness about the need to save and conserve fuel.

The walkathon was flagged off from Church Field in Tezpur.

The rally traversed through Tezpur town, via Idgah Field, Hospital Chariali, Tezpur main market before converging back at Church Field.

The event was organized by Sonitpur district administration and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd on behalf of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.

The event was attended by senior district administration officials, heads of various government departments, school students and various stakeholders.

Saksham 2020, a one-month long mega campaign, is a flagship program of PCRA and Oil public sector undertakings under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Under this programme initiatives are taken to step up efforts to conserve various natural resources such as petroleum and other fuels.
