After Kerala, Punjab, and Rajasthan, now the Telangana Assembly is likely to take a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019.
Informing this, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said the state Assembly might pass a resolution against the CAA soon.
The Telangana chief minister informed that he has spoken to his counterparts in other states and he might convene a conclave of regional parties and the chief ministers to oppose the CAA.
Chief minister Rao said the central government has taken a wrong decision to implement the CAA as the Constitution provides fundamental rights to all people, irrespective of religions, castes, and creed, say media reports.

According to the CAA, 2019, non-Muslim minorities — Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian — who migrated to India from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh till December 31, 2014, following persecution over their faith, are eligible for Indian citizenship.
Rao said their party – Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) – is secular by its policy and nature and it had opposed the CAA.

The TRS voted against the amendment to the citizenship law in the Parliament.
A media report quoted Rao as saying: “I have already spoken to many Chief Ministers on this. I spoke to leaders of other parties also. Probably, maybe, in the next one month, I may arrange a conclave of regional parties and CMs in Hyderabad to oppose this. 100 percent. Because, this concerns the future of the country. This is not good for India, where 130 crore (people) live.”
Hearing a batch of petitions against the CAA, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will hear Assam and Tripura-related petitions on the CAA separately from the other pleas on the Act.
According to reports, an apex court bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde said it will hear petitions pertaining to Assam and Tripura separately as the problem with CAA in these two states is different from the other parts of the country.
