A Right to Information (RTI) query has recently revealed that 503 Lok Sabha MPs have failed to furnish property details within the stipulated time after getting elected in May 2019 parliamentary elections.

As per reports, the RTI query was filed by Nadimuddin, an activist based in Uttarkhand.

The query revealed that only 36 among the 543 MPs have submitted their details within the prescribed time limit.

Nadimuddin said that out of total 543, four MPs have time to submit the details according to the RTI reply.

“Four MPs were elected later in by-elections so technically they still have time to furnish the details,” said Nadimuddin.

However, the top political leaders of the country who have failed to furnish their property details within the prescribed time limit include home minister Amit Shah, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Indian National Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi.

According to the Members of the Lok Sabha Declaration of Assets Rules 2004, a member is required to declare his assets within 90 days of taking oath.
