A massive facelift has been given to the Dimapur Railway Station in Nagaland making it one of the best stations in region.

The main entrance on the station has been given a complete makeover with a Naga traditional touch.

The station, which is the second busiest railway station in Northeast India, has been equipped with airport-like world-class facilities and was open for passengers on Wednesday.

A 100-feet high monumental national flag was unfurled at the concourse area of the station which adds to the beauty of the place and will infuse a sense of nationalism in rail users, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said in statement.

Besides entrance, the nursing room and the waiting lounge of the station has been renovated and given a completely new look, said an NF Railway said.

The Dimapur Railway Station is known as the gateway to Nagaland.

The Dimapur Railway Station of Nagaland has one of the most eco-friendly and modern facilities for railway passengers.

Railway minister Piyush Goyal, while sharing some pictures of the newly-developed railway station on his Twitter handle, said: “With an innovatively designed building adorned with tribal art and a unique nursery in the waiting room, the Dimapur Railway Station of Nagaland has one of the most eco-friendly & modern facilities for passengers.”
