Dreams continue to be the inspiration for many in Shillong — especially for those who set their timetable of the day with the Shillong Teer results.

Shillong Teer is a highly popular traditional game in Meghalaya, and thousands of people partake in the game every day.

The professional Shillong Teer enthusiasts have different sets of approach to look at the two rounds of results every day.

While most take the Shillong Teer result as a total game of luck, others look at the bow-and-arrow game as a match of calculations.

But, what is the basis of the calculations.

Everyday hundreds of tribal archers, with a quiver full of arrows, take part in the game of hitting a target two times a day.

And based on the number of arrows hitting the targets, the Shillong Teer results are declared. Two rounds of Shillong Teer is played every day.

It may sound shocking. But, for many regular Shillong Teer enthusiasts, it is their “dreams” which determine the Shillong Teer results.

But, can dreams predict Shillong Teer results?

“Yes, it is possible, and many of us have seen the results match with the dreams,” Aibor Lyngdoh, a Shillong Teer counter manager, said.

However, Lyngdoh and his fellow Shillong Teer enthusiasts could not elaborate as to how dreams play the important factor in Shillong Teer results.

After a week-long investigation, it was found that the “dream” factor is apparently connected to an unfamiliar science of numerology.

The Shillong Teer enthusiasts find a “magic number”, on the basis of the dream they saw the previous night.

Apparently, a lot of Shillong Teer professionals are smart enough to win at least one round of the game with their magic dream numbers.

Interestingly, there is no set formula to predict the “magic number” for the Shillong Teer result.

Interpretation of dreams and subsequent numerological calculations (to predict the “magic number”) varies from person to person.

And in most cases, dreams and the science of numerology fail to yield results for the Shillong Teer enthusiasts.

The Meghalaya recently decided to re-launch the state lottery to generate additional revenue.

The Meghalaya government recently decided to revive the state lotteries to generate revenues. Daily draws of the Meghalaya State Lottery had stopped in 2005.

A lot of Shillong Teer operators are worried that re-launch of state lottery may ruin their traditional tribal business.

Shillong Teer enthusiasts have started demanding that the government should come up with suggestions to preserve it.

“Shillong Teer has been playing a key role in promoting the traditional game of archery, and the entire operation of the gambling revolves around the sport,” Lyngdoh, said.
