Incessant rain has delayed the start of the first T20 between India and Sari Lanka at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.

Even though the rain has stopped completely, but a wet outfield and rain sipping into the main pitch have left the fate of the match hanging by a thread.

The umpired will inspect the playing condition again at 9 pm if the rain doesn’t return.

A vacuum frier is being used to tend to the wet patches near the middle of the pitch.

India and Sri Lanka will play three T20s in the series in which Shikhar Dhawan is making a comeback.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first.

People from across Assam and the Northeast have come down to Guwahati to watch the match between the two Asian rivals.
