After East Siang and Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP), West Siang and Kurung Kumey teams entered the semifinals of the 18th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament on Wednesday.

The football tournament has been underway at Pasighat in East Siang district.

Earlier, host team East Siang beat Lower Subansiri 2-1 in the inaugural match while it defeated the Dibang Valley team in the second match.

Arunachal Pradesh Police, which trounced the Siang team in the first match, took a leading after playing 0-0 draw with Capital Complex Football Association (CCFA).

West Siang beat its opponent West Kemang 4-1 in its third game played on Wednesday.

West Siang, which earlier beat Lower Dibang Valley (2-1) and Kra Dai (2-0), registered three consecutive wins so far.

Kurung Kumey beat its opponent Changlang 3-1 in the knock-out match on Wednesday and cleared its entry into the semifinal.

The Kurung Kumey team, which earlier defeated Lepa Rada by 6-1 goals, played 1-1 draw against East Kameng.

As per the schedule, West Siang (Pool-A) will clash with host team East Siang (Pool-C) in the semifinals while Kurung Kumey (Pool-B) will lock the horn with APP (Pool-D) on January 3.

The football tournament has been conducted by the District Football Association of East Siang under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association led by chief minister Pema Khandu.

It is sponsored by the state’s directorate of sports and youth welfare department every year.

With this year, East Siang has hosted the tournament for the third time.

A total of 14 teams from different districts of Arunachal Pradesh have participated in the tournament.

The final of the tournament will be held on January 5.
