State government has decided to provide dress allowance to the state security personnel on their bank account

Tripura government has decided to provide dress allowance to the state security personnel on their bank account.

The state Cabinet has approved the plan on last day of 2019.

Law minister Ratan Lal Nath in a press briefing at civil secretariat on Tuesday night informed this and said, in the line of Central Government, the State Government would start providing dress allowance to police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel through their bank accounts as early as possible.

Not only direct cash benefits, the Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal seeking substantial enhancement of dress allowance of TSR, police personnel and officers.

This step will facilitate the security people in getting their uniforms in time, Ratan lal Nath told to media.

According to him, there are altogether 22,201 security personnel employed in police and TSR in various parts of Tripura.

Among them, 131 are in the post of subedar in TSR, nayek subedar 370, habildar/nayek 3,747, TSR rifleman 8,697.

Number of police inspectors in the State stands at 124, sub-inspectors 581 and assistant sub-inspectors and constables together count 8,604.

For all of these security personnel, amount allotted for dress allowance will directly be deposited to individual’s bank account.

Each subadar, nayak subedar, habildar and rilfeman will receive Rs 10,000 per annum while Rs 10000 for inspectors, Rs 8500 for sub-inspector, Rs 7500 for asst sub inspector and constable.

Earlier, dress allowance was very nominal.

Annual expenditure for this is pegged at Rs 20,40,97,000 every year.

Apart from this, few articles such as baton, fiberglass, helmet etc will be purchased and distributed by the government, Nath informed media.
