Bhutan’s beloved Gyalsey or prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck turns two years old on Monday.
Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay conveyed birthday wishes to prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck who turns two year old on Monday.
“I join our people in offering birthday wishes to our beloved Gyalsey, HRH Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck. May our Gyalsey continue to receive blessings of profound wisdom, power and compassion, so our nation and people will continue to enjoy peace, prosperity and happiness for all time,” The Bhutan PM tweeted.
Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck was born on February 5, 2016. He is the first child and heir apparent of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema.
During the naming ceremony of the prince on April 16, 2016 at Pungtang Dewachenpoi Phodrang, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan said, “When the time comes for Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck to serve His country, He must always place the concerns of His country above all else and serve His people justly with great love and dedications. It will be His sacred responsibility to build a harmonious and just society, and thereby, fulfill all the aspirations of His people.”
Prior to the announcement, he was known only as The Gyalsey, which means “prince”.
Last year in November when Bhutanese king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck along with his wife Jetsun Pema Wangchuck and their son arrived in Delhi for a four-day visit to India, one-and-a-half-year-old little prince was the centre of attraction.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the royals, the little prince greeted him with folded hands. The cute namaste moment made for a great frame. PM Modi gifted an official football from the FIFA U-17 World Cup and Chess set to the little prince.
