A class ninth student was on Friday allegedly gangraped by a group of unidentified youths at Sonamura in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.

Locals said the student of Sonamura Girls’ High School was allegedly raped by the youths after she was forcibly taken away in a Maruti Alto to an unknown place when she was going to a shop, located close her school.

An eyewitness said the girl was dumped at Thakurmura in Sonamura area on Friday evening.

She was found in an unconscious state on the side of the road at Thakurmura.

“She was found unconscious and bleeding from her private part,” said a police official.

The girl was rushed to Sonamura Hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to Melaghar Hospital.

“She is currently undergoing treatment at Melaghar Hospital. We can get more details about the incident when the victim starts talking,” the police official said.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Panel Code (IPC) and began investigation.

No arrest has been made so far.

In the first week of December, a 17-year-old girl in Tripura was raped for one-and-a-half month and then burnt alive by a youth and his mother.
