The junior Wushu team of Arunachal Pradesh bagged a total of 7 medals including 2 gold in the 19th Junior National Wushu Championship which recently concluded at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

Representing team Arunachal, where Gyamar Kana and Buku Goi won gold in the 45kg girl’s and 56kg boy’s categories of the competition respectively, Pipi Yangfo won silver for the state in the 48kg girl’s category.

Rinchin Lamu Megeji, Chajon Wangsa and Monday Sonam were the bronze medal winners for team Arunachal.

The 26-member team was led by Techi Juna as a coach and Migi Rana as the manager.

Meanwhile, the All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association accorded a warm reception to the team at the Sangey Laden Sports Academy on Tuesday.

The boys’ team included Namlo Rangmo, Ripaksho Chikro, Bomjen Ligu, Tokiram Badu, Monday Sonam, Tarang Sangbia, Pongchoi Reham, Anjuru Melo, Aphun Tolowham, Ojing Kitnya and Wangson Tangha.

The girls’ team included Buku Goi, Gyamar Kana, Wanghom Wangsu, Chajon Wangsa, Pipi Yangfo, Chera Loku, Naomi Wangsa, Rinchin Lamu, Mingni Tangha, Nemjin Khimhun, Aniya Tok, Sangkio Pordung, and Lily Teksing.

It may be mentioned that Arunachal Pradesh bagged a total of 16 medals in the 18th Junior National Wushu Championship 2019 held at Punjab University in Chandigarh.

The Arunachal Pradesh state wushu team bagged a total of eight gold medals, six silver medals and two bronze medals in Chandigarh.

Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu congratulated the state wushu team for putting up a ‘good fight’ against the other competitors in the national event.

Around 23 members representing the Arunachal Pradesh state wushu team went to the national event.
