The APW is the main petitioner in the case relating to updation of the NRC and had been closely monitoring the process of updation of the NRC in Assam since its inception.

“It is a known fact that Government of India has spent the whole expenditure of the aforesaid process through the then NRC Coordinator Prateek Hajela,” Deka said in the FIR.

“A large number of illegalities, financial irregularities has been committed to making the different expenditure,” Deka reiterated.

“Hajela appointed a number of retired government servant as his advisor and they were provided with new vehicles and handsome salaries,” he added.

“As per information, there was massive corruption in the process,” he said adding that while money had been spent it is not known what types of work have been done by the advisers.

“There are no records is available in this regard, and it is not audited by CAG,” he reiterated.

Deka further said that a large number of school teachers were engaged in this process of NRC updation by Hajela.

“However, no remuneration has been paid to them but huge money is shown to have been paid to such teachers,” he alleged

“In this process, a huge amoun of money has been misappropriated by the previous NRC Coordinator Hajela with his close aides,” he alleged.

“For the updation of the NRC about 10,000 laptops were purchased by Hajela at the cost of Rs 44,000- per Laptop,” Deka said in the FIR.

“However, on survey it has come to light that the market value of one such laptop is Rs 22,500 only. This is another instance of corruption in the process of NRC updation,” Deka added in the FIR.
