The second edition of the 3-day Shehtri Samridhi Utsav Mela was inaugurated at the Hafta Kangjeibung in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Friday.

Celebrated as a part of Mahatama Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary celebration, the Mela is organized by the union ministry of housing and urban affairs.

The Mela aims to unite all Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) stakeholders and create strong momentum for the mission by implementing a number of high–impact initiatives.

Around 100 stalls showcasing food, vegetables, handloom and handicrafts of the state is participating in the Mela.

Manipur Urban Development Agency (MUDA) commissioner M Joy Singh of said, “The Mela aims to showcase and market the products manufactured by various self-help groups (SHGs) under NULM nationally.”

Sing urged the concerned officers to look into the matter and submit the relevant documents at the earliest.

“Due to some technical problems the previous loan applications were not disbursed,” he said.

He asked the MUDA officers to upload the registered SHGs on online portals.

Attending the function, National Mission Manager Ravi Solanki of MIS-ME, DAY-NULM said, “The Mela is a platform to provide a component to various SHGs.”

“I am confident that high-quality products of these SHGs will be on display nationally at the Shehtri Samridhi Utsav Mela scheduled in Delhi on February 2020.”
