The deputy commissioner of Siaha in Mizoram, Bhupesh Chaudhary on Wednesday handed over a sum of Rs five lakhs to District Boxing Association(SiDBA).

The handing over of the amount was done at a small meeting held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office.

This was stated in an official press release issued later in the day.

The fund was to be utilized for construction of a boxing hall in Siaha.

The deputy commissioner expressed his happiness over the commendable performance of boxers at various levels of the state and national despite the fact that no proper infrastructure for boxing discipline was established in the district so far.

He urged and encouraged the boxers who were presented in the meeting to continue their efforts for ensuring a remarkable achievement in future.

District sports & youth services officer, H Zonunmawia also delivered a short motivational speech.

He asserted it was a must for sport person to abstain from alcohol and drug abuse in order to become successful in their endeavours.

He exhorted them to do away with such kinds of bad practices from today itself, if they have been indulging in these bad practices.
