Two school students lost their lives in a major road accident that took place at Samguri area in Assam’s Nagaon district on Wednesday morning.

As per reports, the girls were knocked down by a speeding Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus while they were going to school by riding on their bicycles.

The two deceased girls have been identified as Rabija Khatun and Farida Khatun. Both of them hail from Amoni area of Nagaon district.

Farida died on the way of being carried to the hospital.

Moreover, three other persons were also seriously injured in the accident.

The bus bearing registration number AS-20-1975, which was on its way to Guwahati, tried to stop from knocking down a speeding bike.

While trying to do so, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and knocked down the girls who were going to school on their bicycles.

Meanwhile, locals blocked the National Highway 37 in anger and severely protested against the incident.

It has been reported that the convoy of state agriculture minister Atul Bora had to be stuck on the road for a long time due to the road blockade.
