The Bakin Pertin General Hospital and Training Centre (BPGH&TC) at Pasighat of Arunachal Pradesh has been conferred with the Kayakalp Award by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the second consecutive time this year.
The award was presented to BPGH&TC in the district hospital category, in recognition of the medical institution’s efforts shown towards excellence on promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control in the hospital contributing to improve quality of care.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan felicitated Pasighat Health Services joint director Dr Dukhum Raina by presenting the Kayakalp memento and citation in an event held at the national capital recently.
The award also included Rs 50 lakh as cash incentives for further scope of improvements of the institution.
The BPGH&TC was earlier this year conferred with the Kayakalp award for being the best district hospitals in the State in terms of adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control.
The Kayakalp Award was instituted as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on May 15, 2015 as a national initiative to recognize and felicitate public health facilities that demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control measures besides promoting cleanliness in public spaces.
Meanwhile, acknowledging and commending the collaborative team effort of all the officials and staff of the medical institution, Dr Raina, reiterated that BPGH&TC, Pasighat has already set a benchmark in accomplishing high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control measure at state level and the same should be the goal of every public health facility.
