Assam’s Jamuna Boro won her bout against Alegerian boxer 5-0 in World Women’s championships in Russia.

She will play in the quarter final match on Thursday.

Earlier, Jamuna Boro began her journey at the AIBA World Boxing Championship 2019 in Russia with a winning note.

She defeated Erdenedalai Michidmaa of Mongolia 5-0.

She is competing in the 54 kg bantam category, which is a non-Olympic category.

The pugilist from Assam bagged gold in India Open boxing tournament in the 54 kg category in May this year.

She defeated Sandhyarani Devi 5-0 in the final bout.

Boro added another gold to her collection in July when she defeated Italy’s veteran boxer Giulia Lamagna 5-0 at the 23rd President’s Cup in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.

Jamuna had been bringing laurels to her home state with her splendid performance in various boxing competitions.

Apart from Jamuna, the other Indian boxers to participate in the Women’s WorldBoxing Championships 2019 include Manju Rani, Mary Kom, Jamuna Boro, Neeraj, Sarita Devi, Manju Bamboriya, Lovlina Borgohain, Nandini, Kavita Chahal and Saweety Boora.
