The second and final round of randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) for the upcoming by-elections in Sikkim was held on Sunday.

By-election in the State will take place for Martam Rumtek and Gangtok Assembly constituencies.

The randomization was held in the chamber of East Returning Officer Raj Yadav in presence of general observer for Martam Rumtek Susil Kumar Yadav, general observer Gangtok Madhurima Baruah (Sen), representatives of political parties along with the elections officials.

The entire process of randomization was done through EVM Management System (EMS) as per the directions of the Election Commission of India.

The randomization was followed by inspection of strong room by the observers and commissioning of EVMs at zilla conference hall.

The general observer for Gangtok, Madhurima Baruah (Sen) accompanied by flying squad team and static surveillance team visited seven polling stations under Gangtok constituency.

The general observer found all polling stations are well established in a voter’s friendly environment.
