An excise patrolling and an excise raid were carried out on Saturday evening in eastern Assam’s Sivasagar district.
The raid was carried by an excise team lead by Ashutosh Baruah, inspector of Excise of Nazira.

The patrolling and raid were carried in the areas of Santak Tea Estate, Bihubor Tea Estate, Mekipur Tea Estate, Ligiripukhuri Tea Estate, Simoluguri Railway Station back side area, in front of Nazira ONGC Coloney Gate, near puja mandaps etc.
A total of three cases were detected and one accused was arrested.
The team seized and destroyed 4.050 ltrs IMFL and beer, 2.700 ltrs country liquor, 23 ltrs illicit distillation liquor, and 40 ltrs Pachowai.
A case has been registered under Section 53 (1)a and 53(2)c of Assam Excise Act, 2018.
