Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday said he is hopeful that verdict in the protracted Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute can be possibly be pronounced by mid-November.

CJI Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday consulted lawyers from both the sides and fixed October 18 as the deadline for completing the arguments in the case.

“Let us all make joint efforts to complete it by October 18. If the need arises, we are ready to sit on Saturdays and some extra hours on weekdays to complete it,” CJI Gogoi observed.

Leading the submissions on behalf of the Muslim side, senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan, said, “We would complete the arguments by the end of next week and will then take a day or two to argue our civil suit.”

Lawyers from the Hindu side Ram Lalla Virajman informed they will take two days.

The other Hindu parties, however, said that they would need a couple of days more for completing their arguments.

CJI Ranjan Gogoi heads the Ayodhya Bench in the Supreme Court and he slated to retire on November 17.

The entire matter would have to be heard afresh if the judgement is not delivered before Gogoi’s retirement.
