The second runner-up award in the Swachh Iconic Places in Phase I under the Swachh Bharat Mission initiative was formally handed over to Kamakhya Temple on Friday in New Delhi during the Swachh Mahotsav 2019.

The award was received by the ‘Doloi” of the temple Mohit Chandra Sarma on behalf of the temple authorities.

It was handed over by the union minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

The function was attended by President Ram Nath Kovind and a host of other dignitaries.

The Best Swachh Iconic Places was awarded to Vaishnodevi Temple of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Swachh Iconic Places is an initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission focused on keeping the premises of some selected iconic places of heritage in the country neat and clean.

Addressing the gathering, the President said that the biggest feature of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ is that it has become a campaign of every Indian.
