Two bikers were killed and another injured as they were hit allegedly by the convoy of Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Baghmari in Biswanath district on Thursday.

According to information, the incident took place at around 8.30 pm on the National Highway in front of a Bharat Petroleum deport.

As per reports, the deceased duo has been identified as Bipul Majhi and Susen Jogdula.

One Sachin Gowala has also been injured in the incident.

The injured has been immediately rushed to the hospital at Tezpur.

A large number of people gathered at the spot following the incident.

Sensation prevailed in the area after the incident.

High-level police officials rushed to the spot after the road mishap.

According to reports, the locals have expressed anger as the Assam Finance minister and convenor of BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) did not stop at the spot of incident.

The incident took place when the convoy of minister Sarma was returning from North Lakhimpur where the minister unfurled the tricolour to mark the celebrations of 73rd Independence Day.

It has been learned that minister Sarma was accompanied by Tezpur Lok Sabha MP and former Assam power minister Pallab Lochan Das.

It may be mentioned that on November 8, 2018, Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy allegedly killed a student of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

The deceased was identified as Anupam Chakma.

The incident took place when the convoy of Sarma allegedly hit the motorcycle driven by Anupam Chakma at Bharalumukh in Guwahati.

The student was taken to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital and then to GNRC Hospital but the doctors declared him dead.
