Three police personnel of Assam Police have been awarded with the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal For Excellence In Investigation’ for the year 2019.

The awardees include Shankar Brata Raimedhi, Nayan Moni Barman and Mohammad Emadul Hussain.

Raimedhi is the superintendent of police (SP) of Nagaon district, Barman is the deputy superintendent of police (Headquarters) of Hailakandi district and Hussain is the sub-inspector (Unarmed Branch) of Goalpara DEF.

Sprint queen Hima Das who hails from the town Dhing of Nagaon District took to Twitter to congratulate Raimedhi for his remarkable achievement.

She tweeted, “Congratulations to our superintendent of police in Nagaon Shankar Brata Raimedhi (IPS) sir on being conferred with the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation’ award by Home Ministry. Proud moment for all of us!”

Ibashisha Kharpran of Meghalaya Police and Lalhmachhuani Sailo of Mizoram Police have also been awarded with the Union Home Minister’s Medal For Excellence In Investigation’ this year.

The medal has been constituted in 2018 with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognize such excellence in investigation by investigating officers.

A total of 96 police personnel have been awarded with the prestigious medal this year.

Among the total number of police personnel who have been awarded with the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal For Excellence In Investigation’ this year, 13 of them are women police officers.
