Jorhat police on late Monday night nabbed three teenagers including two minor boys from near the Jorhat Provincial Railway Yard.

The police recovered about 13 gm of drugs, suspected to be brown sugar from their possession.

A police patrolling party nabbed a girl, identified as Diksa Das (19) of Borigaon here, along with two minors, from near the railway yard when they were riding a two-wheeler, a police official said.

The official said a case (No.2011/2019) has been registered in this connection at the Jorhat Police Station under Section 21 (B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The policemen on intercepting the three, questioned them suspecting that they were hiding something.

When they were searched, suspected brown sugar was found inside a box in their possession.

During interrogation, the three reportedly told police that they had brought the narcotics substance from Dimapur by boarding a train, the police official said.

Police have also taken possession of the scooty.

The official said samples of the suspected narcotics substance would be sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Guwahati.

The official stated that employing of minors for drugs peddling was a matter of serious concern and suspected that a big racket was operating in peddling of drugs in the region.
