Four tea garden workers were injured when a tiger attacked them at Ketla tea garden in Behali under Behali Police Station in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Monday afternoon.
According to sources, at around 3 pm, a group of two hundred tea garden workers were busy working in the garden and suddenly a tiger attacked a woman.
But as the other tea garden workers started shouting at the sudden attack on the woman, the tiger released her.
The injured woman has been identified as 26-year-old Anti Praja.
Sources said the woman got injured in her face and chest and admitted to the Catholic hospital at Borgang.
Meanwhile, forest officials immediately reached the spot and tried to push back the tiger but it was hiding in a nearby forest and again attacked three other persons in the same garden at 8 No line.
The injured workers have been identified as Philoben Tapno, Papu Shek and Sagar Nayak Tiro.
All the injured have been admitted to the Catholic hospital at Borgang.
Sources said the injuries received by Anoti Praja are serious.
The workers of the tea garden blocked the NH-15 demanding protection from the authorities as they have felt ‘insecure’.
Northern Forest Range officer Pranjal Baruah informed that the tiger which has attacked the tea garden workers, has been suspected to a big leopard.
“There is no possibility of appearance of Royal Bengal Tiger in that side,” added Baruah.
