Dengue has affected 27437 persons in Bangladesh from January 1 to August 5, out of which 19761 have been released after treatment.

Officials informed that in the last 24 hours alone, 2,065 patients have been admitted to different hospitals across the country due to dengue fever.

According to the latest data provided by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) presently 7658 patients are undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined.

Health officials further informed that dengue has claimed 18 lives across the country so far.

“A total of 4,962 patients are currently receiving treatment in 38 government and private hospital in Dhaka, whereas a total of 2,696 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka,” reported Dhaka Tribune quoting Dr Ayesha Akter, assistant director of Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room.

This is one of the worst dengue outbreak in the country.

Following the outbreak, an alert has been sounded in Tripura as well.

The Tripura government has even issued an advisory to the people travelling to Tripura from Bangladesh.
